Residents of Dr. Sarphatihuis
Description
The Dr. Sarphatihuis is a residence for individuals who can no longer live independently due to physical or mental disabilities such as schizophrenia, Korsakoff syndrome, Alzheimer’s, borderline personality disorder, or Parkinson’s disease. This portrait series captures a unique community where residents often lack family or friends to visit them and are frequently seen as outsiders beyond the walls of the facility. By focusing on ten participants, this project seeks to reconnect them with society, showcasing their humanity, individuality, and rightful place as citizens.
